Bush FAQ

Who is Bush

Formed nearly four years ago, the London-based Bush met through mutual friends. Lead singer Gavin Rossdale and Lead Guitarist Nigel Puslford met first and formed 'Future Primitive' with a few other musicians. Eventually bassist Dave Parsons and drummer Robin Goodridge joined and the four of them formed Bush. Since then, playing and hanging and playing and playing is what Gavin, Nigel, Dave and Robin do, and do so well. Their debut show was an outdoor car park converted into a fantasy birthday setting for a friend.

Where Did Bush Get Their Name?

"In England, there are lots of meanings for Bush.... you smoke bush, and both men and women have bushes--which is a very important point, it's not some kind of sexist thing. And we live near Shepherd's Bush. Also, I just like the 'shhh' at the end of the word."
--Gavin Rossdale

What Does Sixteen Stone Mean?

"Once upon a time there was a lonely man...my friend, who called a phone number advertising a '21 year Scandinavian beauty, new in town.' When she arrived, she was forty years old and sixteen stone (about 224 pounds)...but he managed to get through it."
--Gavin Rossdale

Where Did Razorblade Suitcase Come From?

Razorblade Suitcase is a line in the song 'Synapse' and was well liked so they named their album after it.

Who are Rupert and Julie?

Rupert and Julie are two of Gavin's friends who died in a freak boating accident in London.

Bush Birthdays and Siblings

Gavin - October 30th, 1967
Nigel - April 11th, 1965
Robin - September 10th, 1965
Dave - July 2nd, 1965

Gavin at least has one sister named Soraya who I believe is older than he is. He does not really have an asshole brother. Nigel has a sister who plays or used to play with Cyndi Lauper. I believe Robin has an older brother who got him into the drums and I am not sure about Dave.

What Bands Were The Bush Guys Previously In?

All of the Bush guys have been in quite a few different bands but here are the main ones:

Gavin - Midnight, Future Primitive
Nigel - King Blank, Future Primitive
Robin - Beautiful People
Dave - Transvision Vamp

Can I Still Get Albums From These Bands??

Midnight released a UK single a long time ago but no album, so far, I don't know of one person who has found it since it is not in production anymore.

Beautiful People and Transvision Vamp both have albums out that you could probably find if you looked hard enough.

Does Bush Have An E-mail Address?

No. But the Bush fanclub does:
E-mail: bush-fc@dircon.co.uk

Nigel is the only member of Bush that has his own email address. He corresponds with a select few in the online bush community, but his address is not for the general public, so please don't ask.

How Can I Get Backstage Passes?

If you are interested in backstage passes to Bush shows, we have some bad news. Passes are not just available to anyone. You either have to get them through a band member or radio contest. Asking other Bush fans or maintainers of Bush sites will not get you anywhere and will waste both of your time. Everyone is basically in the same boat on here.

Bush On CD-ROM

Bush released an interactive CD-ROM to go along with 16 Stone called the Little Things Enhanced CD-ROM. It includes interviews with the band members, clips of live performances, the early videos plus lots of other fun stuff. You can also play some of the songs (Including Bud) on your audio CD player. You can get it still at some big music stores and its around $8-12.

Bush was featured in issue #6 of Launch CD-ROM. It includes interviews, live performances plus you can play a live version of 'Alien' on your audio CD player. You can find it in some computer stores or music stores for around $10. There are also LOTS of other non-Bush things on the CD-Rom.

There was a special edition Razorblade Suitcase CD-ROM that was released with Razorblade Suitcase but was only available to the first 50 people who got RB-SC at Best Buy or the Wherehouse on November 19th, 1996. You can't buy them anywhere anymore unless you find a Best Buy or Wherehouse that still has leftovers (doubtful). This CD-ROM includes interviews, looks behind the scene of making the album, music plus more.
